Program of Services
Jewel House is situated on Durban’s Berea and offers our residents comfortable accommodation in a loving, safe, happy environment. At present, we have 14 residents, some of whom have been at Jewel House for over 20 years. Residents are provided top medical treatment as well as physical therapy, psychological and psychiatric treatment.
The residents attend Masada, a sheltered workshop, every day from 8:30 – 2:30. In December when Masada is closed outings are organized for the residents. They enjoy all the shows and events; it is a busy few weeks which they look forward to every year. Every Shabbat and all the Chagim are celebrated at Jewel House.
Jewel House was officially opened on 30 October 1988. It continues to offer a home away from home for our most vulnerable community members who deserve and appreciate the special care they receive from our wonderful housemother, staff, nursing sister and social worker.
