They were born in Vilna and Kovna, Hamburg and Frankfurt, Greenside and Sea
Point.
In South Africa, they built a Jewish world, imbued their children with
Jewish pride, and cared for their elderly and their handicapped.
That world is now shrinking. While the young are emigrating to other
countries, the old age homes and homes for the handicapped are struggling
to survive: buses have been hijacked, elevators don't work, windows cannot
be replaced.
Announcing The Chai South Africa Jewish Relief Fund, the first worldwide
emergency aid effort for South Africa's elderly and handicapped in
residential homes.
